Maar hoe be\u00efnvloedt het kraanwater van Cura\u00e7ao je tanden? Inzicht in de mineraalinhoud, pH-waarde en mogelijke verontreinigingen kan je tanden op de lange termijn helpen beschermen.<\/span><\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Mineraalgehalte en fluoridegehalte<\/span><\/h2><p class=\"translation-block\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Fluoride in drinkwater helpt het glazuur te verharden en verlaagt het risico op gaatjes. Interessant is dat<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/fluoridealert.org\/news\/curacao-ends-fluoridation-of-drinking-water\/\" target=\"_self\"> <span style=\"font-weight: 400\">de lokale fluoridegehaltes in het kraanwater van Cura\u00e7ao<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> de afgelopen jaren zijn veranderd. Het eiland stopte rond 2017 met fluoridering, waardoor de fluorideconcentraties daalden van ongeveer 1,5 ppm tot onder het optimale niveau.<\/span><\/p><p class=\"translation-block\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Fluoride in drinkwater verhardt het glazuur en verlaagt het risico op gaatjes. Omdat het kraanwater op Cura\u00e7ao niet altijd optimale fluoride bevat, raden we aan om fluoridetandpasta te gebruiken en, indien geadviseerd, supplementen te gebruiken die door de tandarts worden voorgeschreven. Een onevenwichtige mineraal- of fluoridespiegel kan bijdragen aan glazuurerosie en tandbederf, twee van de <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/klinikadentalstarosa.com\/nl\/common-dental-problems-curacao\/\" target=\"_self\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">meest voorkomende gebitsproblemen<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Calcium en magnesium ondersteunen ook de remineralisatie. Matig hard water kan nuttig zijn; extreem hard water veroorzaakt vooral kalkaanslag en een onaangenaam gevoel, zonder extra voordelen voor de tanden.<\/span><\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">pH en zuurgraad<\/span><\/h2><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Naast mineralen speelt de pH-waarde van het water een cruciale rol. Als lokaal kraanwater licht zuur is (pH lager dan ~7), kan het na verloop van tijd het glazuur langzaam demineraliseren, waardoor tanden kwetsbaarder worden voor erosie en gevoeligheid, vooral in combinatie met zure voedingsmiddelen of dranken.\u00a0<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Gelukkig streven de meeste gemeentelijke watersystemen naar een vrijwel neutrale pH-waarde om corrosie van leidingen en infrastructuur te voorkomen. Schommelingen, vooral in gebieden verder van zuiveringsinstallaties of tijdens onderhoud, kunnen echter incidenteel een lagere pH-waarde veroorzaken.<\/span><\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Verontreinigende stoffen en risico's voor de waterkwaliteit<\/span><\/h2><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Kraanwater op Cura\u00e7ao is gezuiverd en over het algemeen veilig om te drinken, maar net als bij elke openbare watervoorziening kan het soms sporen van verontreinigingen of microbi\u00eble agentia bevatten als er sprake is van een tekortkoming in de behandeling of in het distributienetwerk. Drinken van dergelijk water veroorzaakt zelden directe schade aan de tanden, maar een slechte waterkwaliteit kan over het algemeen schadelijk zijn voor het tandvlees of het mondweefsel, wat indirect van invloed is op de mondgezondheid.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Een andere factor is chloor of andere desinfectiemiddelen die bij waterzuivering worden gebruikt. Deze zijn meestal aanwezig in lage concentraties die veilig zijn voor mensen, maar sommige mensen ervaren smaak- of geurproblemen, waardoor ze kraanwater helemaal vermijden en mogelijk overstappen op suikerhoudende flessendranken die schadelijker zijn voor hun tanden.<\/span><\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Praktische tips voor het beschermen van uw tanden<\/span><\/h2><ul><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Gebruik een fluoride tandpasta: Omdat het kraanwater op Cura\u00e7ao mogelijk niet voldoende fluoride bevat, biedt een goede fluoridehoudende tandpasta een extra beschermende laag tegen tandbederf.<\/span><p>\u00a0<\/p><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Drink voldoende water: Hydratatie bevordert de speekselproductie, wat een natuurlijke buffer en reiniger voor uw tanden vormt.<\/span><p>\u00a0<\/p><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Spoel na zure voedingsmiddelen: Als u citrusvruchten, frisdranken of andere zuren heeft gegeten, spoel dan met schoon water (of gebruik een mondspoelmiddel met fluoride) om de resterende zuren te neutraliseren.<\/span><p>\u00a0<\/p><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Laat u regelmatig controleren door uw tandarts: bij Klinika Dental Sta Rosa houden we de slijtage van het glazuur en gaatjes in de gaten.
